The beach is a bit busy depending on the time of day, and the tide definitely moves super fast in the evening, so be mindful of the waves. Would recommend checking out the centuries old fish pond being rebuilt on one edge of the beach by a local pond warden. Stay off the rocks and at least 20 feet back at all times as the rocks and turtles are protected. Green sea turtles nest and sleep among the rocks to stay protected from predators, so please leave them alone.
Great little beach with shallow water with a lava rock wall around the water area that creates a little sanctuary for sea turtles. Lots of turtles swim in to sun themselves and rest, safe from sharks. Fun to bring kids and see several turtles. Best time is usually around sunset. You'll see close to a dozen usually. Just make sure and stay 20 feet away from them.
Kite surfing, beached boat, free museum, cold showers, horseshoes, turtles...Great fun.
Great beach. Fun snorkeling and the water is super clear. Grandkids had a great time
It's a secluded spot off the main streets of Kihei, and if you go to the beach in front of the park early in the morning, you can see sea turtle nesting marks and turtles.
If you're here at sunset, you'll also be treated to a really beautiful sunset.
There is beauty all the way around the island of Maui and Kalepolepo Beach is not the exception. Compared to Kam 1. 2 and 3 the beach is rockier and narrower and the waves can take you by surprise when wading barefoot and can end up reaching up to your waist. I recommend wearing a swimsuit with a coverup or shirt that you don’t mind getting wet.
Come see turtles here! The beach is secluded and turtles come to hang out on the rocks and nearby beach. The water is shallow, great for kids to play, and you can walk up close to rocks to see turtles. All free, no need to pay for a tour or anything, just walk up and see big turtles hanging out by the rocks. Especially if you come in the evening when it gets dark, one night we counted over 40 of them. Just make sure to keep your distance and not bother them.
My favorite place in Maui. Turtles galore, no waves. Perfect for those who can't snorkel but want to see turtles in their natural habitat for free.
